Outreach and education are central to the USC Wrigley Institute's mission. The Friends of the Wrigley Institute is an important component of the institute's outreach efforts. The membership of the Friends of the Wrigley Institute is composed of individuals who are interested in marine and environmental science. Members are regularly updated on the institute's activities and are invited to events designed to be both fun and educational.
Recent activities have included open houses at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island; a dinner lecture series with topics such as El Niño, coastal health and Catalina Island weather; and Family Science Camp.
The Friends of the Wrigley Institute is a valuable asset to both the USC Philip K. Wrigley Marine Science Center on Catalina Island and the institute as a whole.
Gifts to the Friends of the Wrigley Institute allow the institute to award numerous scholarships to graduate students in biology, environmental studies and the earth sciences. Gifts also assist in facility maintenance at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center. Members receive a range of benefits depending on the level of support.
